In his ceramist work architect and artist Karl J. Kühn acts like an artist but observes like an architect. Awareness of nature, human responsibility, beauty and aesthetics, science and fiction, yoga and scuba diving, design and fine arts – it all comes together when he is focusing his mind on a new piece. He creates useables, sulptures as well as the inbetween.

Each piece is unique and made by hand, I do not use an electric wheel. I use white and red clay from Toscania. I collect glazes from all over the world, sometimes I mix them myself. My favourite stone ware glazes come from a small company here in Vienna. Most of my pieces are dinnerware save, if not, it's noted.

About Pricing

I am not becoming rich doing this.
In fact I calculate my prices in a way I make not more than € 12 - 15 per working hour.
It takes a lot of time to produce high fire ceramics and life here in Vienna is expensive.
